Local Industrial Retention Initiative (LIRI)

Fomed in 1986 in response to the loss of city manufacturing jobs, Local Industrial Retnetion Initiative (LIRI) was co-founded by then 22nd Ward Alderman Jesus "Chuy" Garcia and the Greater Northwest Development Corporation.

In partnership with 22nd Ward Alderman Munoz, Enlace helped MRC Polymer complete a $12 million project by facilitating an Industrial Revenue Bond for $3 million. Completion of this project in 2005 allowed MRC Polymer to increase jobs from 60 to 120

Through our LIRI program, Enlace works towards providing technical assistance as well as daily outreach to industrial and manufacturing companies that are within our industrial corridor.  We provide companies with referrals to appropriate agencies in an effort to secure retention, as well as workshops that deal with different issues involving incentives offered through the city of chicago, energy saving programs, theft prevention and property tax issues.  Working closely with our industrial corridor, Enlace works to keep workforce trends as well as serving as a resource to pin-pointing potential employment opportunities for the residents of Little Village.
